Young people are driving change in Westminster.
At Young Westminster Foundation we work with an inspiring group of young people who are committed to creating positive change locally, through learning and applying skills in public speaking, teamwork and collaboration.
This group forms our Youth Associates (YAs). They receive training through our YEP Programme to develop confidence and a wide range of skills. Our YAs have been ensuring that young people’s voices are heard in consultations, funding decisions and responding to local challenges.
They are available now to work with local stakeholders: identifying solutions, sharing lived perspectives, and shaping plans that reflect the needs of Westminster’s young people.
Please get in touch with Jade, our Youth Voice and Engagement Manager, if you’d like to know more.
What’s coming next? Big opportunities, bigger impact
Our Youth Associates are already working to influence decisions and bring lived experience into spaces where young people are rarely represented.
Youth Associates have been supporting with job interviews, parliamentary events and a recent Transport for London consultation.
Two of our group recently joined a grant panel alongside funders. Their contributions shaped investment in programmes tackling youth safety, mental health and community inclusion.
They reflected that: “It wasn’t just symbolic; we were taken seriously and helped influence decisions that will change lives.”
In the coming months, Youth Associates will step into major new consultancy opportunities across Westminster, including with city planning and placemaking committees, London Business School, Westminster MP’s offices and the Mayor of London’s Office.
This summer they will be helping us to shape and research the next round of our Peer-led Needs Analysis ‘Our City, Our Future’. This piece of research underpins the organisational strategy and priorities of Young Westminster Foundation.
Together, our Youth Associates will be sharing perspectives, advising on youth access and safety, undertaking research and ensuring that Westminster’s young people have a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their daily lives and future.
We are seeing growing demand from business and civic sectors for youth insight that is authentic, informed and local. Young Westminster Foundation works as a bridge to make this possible.
“YWF has made such a great impact on my life in so many aspects. Professionally, YWF supported me in my early career through an internship that gave me stability and support I wouldn’t have had otherwise. Growing up in Westminster, finding opportunities like the YEP can feel impossible – the fact that the network continues beyond the programme creates a real sense of community and solidarity.” Amel, YWF Youth Associate
