Mastering My Future partnership programme builds confidence, skills and career opportunities for young people in Westminster.

Over the last three years our employability programme has delivered career and skills-development opportunities for over 300 young people in Westminster.

2–3 Degrees delivered the programme for Young Westminster Foundation, with funding and employer support from many Westminster business partners. Young people gained practical preparation for the workplace, as well as personal development and career discovery opportunities.

Three years at a glance

  • 300+ young people completing the programme
  • 37 workshops delivered
  • 12 industries engaged
  • 1,200+ young people reached
  • 80% of young people from global majority backgrounds
  • 47 work-experience opportunities secured

What young people told us

Participants told us that the programme fostered connection, confidence and a stronger sense of belonging in professional spaces:

“I learned that I can be comfortable speaking to people I don’t really know.”

“It made me feel more comfortable and empowered [in a workspace]. I realised I could belong in these spaces — and thrive.”

“I felt connected with others as I was learning about them and what they want to do.”

Skills, confidence and career awareness

Alongside new knowledge of different industries, young people developed the confidence and transferable skills to take their next steps.

  • Participants significantly increased their awareness of roles and career paths across property, banking, media, telecommunications and other sectors.
  • More than 95% of respondents felt more confident about signing up for employability programmes and volunteering opportunities.
  • 87% felt they knew how to promote their skills and strengths in job applications.
  • Young people reported greater confidence talking about themselves in professional settings.
  • Participants strengthened employability skills including public speaking, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, leadership, customer service and networking.
  • Opening doors to the world of work

Relationships with employers turned career exploration into practical experience and helped participants see a place for themselves in a wider range of industries.

Employer partnerships gave young people the chance to build professional networks, explore workplaces and turn learning into real opportunities. Through MMF, 47 young people secured work experience across finance, hospitality, marketing, real estate, architecture and government strategy.

Twelve industries engaged with the programme. Core support came from Westminster’s property sector, alongside organisations in sport, media, digital, banking and other fields.

The programme in action

Groups of young people joined a supportive workshop environment, combining positive peer interaction, energetic facilitation and expert input from business leaders. Together they:

  • Strengthened self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Learned to handle setbacks and develop a more resilient mindset
  • Strengthenedverbal and non-verbal communication
  • Explored employment pathways and routes into work experience
  • Took part in sector-specific days hosted by Westminster businesses, including workplace tours, visits and industry challenge events
  • Practising teamwork and networking with peers and business professionals

A community effort

Over three years, WPA has supported the Mastering My Future programme, delivered in partnership with 2-3 Degrees.

We are hugely grateful to Westminster Property Association and their member organisations. Their generous backing enabled this programme and brought so many rich learning experiences.

Young people gained first-hand insight into the property sector through workshops, masterclasses and employer visits hosted by WPA member companies including British Land, Charles Russell Speechlys, GPE, Grosvenor, Newmark, Landsec and Shaftesbury Capital.

WPA and member companies generously funded this programme: Berkeley Estate Asset Management, Grosvenor, GPE, The Howard de Walden Estate, Landsec, Newmark, The Pollen Estate, Shaftesbury Capital and Soho Estates.

We are incredibly proud of the young people who committed their time and energy to the programme and worked so hard. Thank you also to the amazing team at 2-3 Degrees for creating and delivering this dynamic and inspiring programme!

Three years of connection, confidence and opportunity – working together to create stronger foundations for young people’s futures.
