Young Westminster Foundation (YWF) is delighted to announce that it has been selected as one of the chosen charities of the new Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Karen Scarborough.

Councillor Scarborough, who has a longstanding commitment to improving opportunities for young people, will take on the mayoral role while continuing her involvement with Young Westminster Foundation as a valued member of its Board of Trustees.

The new Lord Mayor has served Westminster for many years as a councillor, contributing across a wide range of committees and initiatives, and has consistently championed issues including air quality, community wellbeing, and youth opportunity. She is also deeply committed to education and local communities, serving as a governor and actively supporting initiatives that benefit young people across the borough.

Karen’s passion for supporting young people aligns closely with the mission of Young Westminster Foundation, which works to ensure all children and young people in Westminster have access to opportunities that enable them to thrive.

As a trustee since Young Westminster Foundation began, Councillor Scarborough has generously contributed her expertise to support YWF’s governance, strategic development and fundraising, helping to strengthen the organisation’s impact across Westminster.

This partnership marks an exciting opportunity to raise awareness of YWF’s work and to further expand support for local youth organisations and the thousands of young people it reaches every year.

Helen Mann, CEO of Young Westminster Foundation said:

We are absolutely thrilled that Young Westminster Foundation has been chosen as one of the Lord Mayor of Westminster’s charities for the coming year.

“Karen has been an exceptional advocate for young people throughout her time as a councillor and a highly valued member of our Board of Trustees having help to shape our work since the very beginning. Her commitment to creating opportunities for young people across Westminster has already made a significant difference to our work and I am delighted to hear of her appointment to the office of Lord Mayor of Westminster.

This partnership provides a fantastic platform to shine a spotlight on the importance of investing in our young people and the vital role that grassroots youth organisations play in supporting them. We look forward to working closely with the Lord Mayor over the coming year to extend our reach and impact even further.”
