This Funding was made available by Westminster City Council and Young Westminster Foundation’s corporate and founding partners who are interested in supporting young people. This investment in youth services sits at the heart of the Council’s ambition to create a City for All and contributes to the growing community of like-minded stakeholders investing in young people in Westminster. This grant-funded programme is designed to allow providers to work with Youth and Family Hubs across Westminster to test approaches to engaging and supporting young people and to sign up to the Early Help Strategy 2019 – 2022. This represents an opportunity for all organisations in Westminster to create an Early Help system which puts children, young people and their families first and strives to create a joint response to emerging needs, ensuring the best use of resources.
The fund is solely for the provision of projects / activities / services / programmes (including pilots) for children and young people aged 8-25 in Westminster that link with Early Help Strategy Outcomes. Funding can be used to cover project/activity/programme costs, venue costs or capital equipment where these are directly related to the services.

Strengthening The Youth Sector (Now Closed)

Grants available – 2-year grants of up to £20,000 per year
Funding available – £100,000

Since the Covid-19 pandemic started, it became more apparent that the Youth sector needs access to sustainable funding deliberately designed to give them capacity to strengthen their organisations. With this ‘Strengthening The Youth Sector’ fund, Young Westminster Foundation and Westminster City Council want to give 5 local youth organisations the space to develop their offer, strengthen their operating models and give some sort of security and space to navigate these difficult times.
We aim to build centres of excellence in relation to youth provision to become leaders in supporting the development of the sector across London.
This grant may be spent on Core Costs to meet the outcomes of Westminster’s Early Help Strategy including staff costs, training costs, fundraising costs, evaluation costs, marketing costs, and/or overheads.
The second phase of the Brighter Futures Fund for project funding will launch in late November 2020.
How do I apply?
This is a two stage process. We ask organisations to express an interest in this fund by submitting a short cover letter to nora@youngwestminster.com by Wednesday 25th November. In this letter, please outline your organisation’s track record of working in Westminster and giving a broad sense of short to medium term ambitions. If successful at this first stage, we will invite you to submit a more detailed application form.

YWF Small Grants Programme Round 2 Health & Wellbeing – Now closed
Spring 2019 Programme
Funding available – £40 000
This Fund aims to support community organisations to deliver activities and services that meet the Health and Wellbeing needs of the children and young people of the London Borough of Westminster. Projects supported target those whose needs are greatest and support the Foundation’s ambition of developing and enhancing the capacity and sustainability of the local children and young people’s voluntary and community sector. The focus and outcomes of the projects must support the theme of Health and Wellbeing, identified as one of Young Westminster Foundations Key Themes in our Needs Analysis report, A City Within A City, published in Jan 2018.
The grants panel included YWF trustees, young Westminster residents, representatives from John Lyon’s Charity, One Westminster, Public Health and founding partners.

YWF Small Grants Programme Round 1 – Now closed
Spring 2018 Programme
The fund aims to support community organisations to deliver activities and services that meet the needs of the children and young people of Westminster, whilst enhancing the capacity and sustainability of the sector. The projects that we have supported each focus on one of our key theme’s as highlighted by our recent needs analysis report, A City Within A City:
